Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San Jose is about a 6 hour drive from Tamarindo. You can choose to fly into this airport if you wish to explore other areas of Costa Rica, such as La Fortuna or Monteverde and then find your way to Tamarindo. If you choose to fly into this location, you can also take another short flight into Tamarindo Airport (TNO) which is about a 15 minute drive from the town.
